Do you remember having your feet measured as a child? Then doing the same with our own children! Always trusting they would fit just right but always allowing a little extra for 'growing into'.
Making the sports team in school was never one of my ambitions but I liked to play a part. But my motivation was never really there. Wearing the trainers was about as cool as I got!
But thinking back there was and always is growing room if we just pace ourselves. Sometimes the shoes slip a bit and you lose your grip. Others start to pinch and the pain takes control of your mindset. But either way, each is necessary to find your strengths and stamina.
Growing as my dear mother would say comes in 'fits and starts'. Never really understood that but she was right! If the shoe fits own it! Then get started. We can't always control the outcome or where we are but we can control where we want to be!
As little girls, dress up was always fun. Clicking those high heals on the floor! It didn't matter that we could hardly stand, let alone walk!
But like any athlete, soldier or bunion will tell you, the shoes are only a small part of the story.
Allow yourself growing room. Take comfort in where you walk. Each step gets you to where you are meant to be.
Big shoes to fill? Maybe or maybe not. But remember you are where you are meant to be but that's not the only sole that cushions your journey. Keep going!
