Whether we are shown books, read books or share words together we are creating pages together, that somehow play out in our imaginations.
A good book is hard to put down but often what attracts us first is the lure of a favourite author, a pretty cover or maybe just the title. I have always loved words! It's easy to talk so it should be easy to write them down - right?!
The prospect of writing a book, a talk, a thesis or dissertation is not always so inviting.
Yet we are constantly writing our own stories. Book shops are not everyone's cup of tea but it is easy to get lost in the pages of so many topics when you step inside one.
So, we turn pages! We read chapters and we hope to make it through to the finale! Some like to bend the spine others would be horrified at the thought of even creasing a page!
Old books are rarely looked at because of their fragility. Their worth is measured only by their longevity and those who have read before! They are kept away from direct sunlight and heat and stacked neatly in rooms or cases with low humidity. They cannot be handled unless protected and most of all must be kept away from book worms! Those little mites aren't actually worms but they will destroy the pages over time.
So isn't it funny that while we are all writing and living our own stories how different we all view the pages we call life and how different our values are.
I love to see a book that is well loved and read and keeps getting pulled out. No matter how tatty it may look or how well you may know the words, that's not what really matters. It's how you tell and relate that story to others. How you interact with your readers or your listeners!
Its not how well you speak or write its how you apply and use your words in the right places and for the right reasons.
A new book is precious and should be cared for but if it doesn't ever get looked at it's purpose is wasted. Their value is hidden in the pages and punctuation not in the neatness of the cover or placement on the shelf.
Someone who never reads between the lines or curls up and falls asleep sometimes with a creased page on their chest does not live their story.
A book that is falling apart means you probably have it all together!
So don't stress if you can't find the words. There are folk who can't read who are some of life's best authors! Enjoy your gift and live out your vision!
