Make The Difference!

Images from: Pinterest

So, while randomly plodding through my day, with very little direction or motivation I might add, a thought came to mind! That in itself is nothing special but it was that thought that brought something else flooding back to my memory.

Do you remember those games we played as children sometimes, when you were asked to spot or find the differences between two pictures? They would keep me busy for a while and they intrigued me no end.

Very often on first impressions, nothing appeared out of the ordinary but then, as you studied a little more, things became more apparent. Then the more you seemed to find, the easier it became. However, if you keep looking, you can very often see things that aren't really there. You can tend to get a little carried away at times.

Maybe the cat has an extra whisker or the bell is missing off her collar! You know the kind of thing I'm going for here.

So it is in life! Very often the pictures we have in our heads and our own expectations don't quite match up. We are trying to make up the differences rather than deciding what they actually are and accepting them.

This can apply to just about everything cant it? Following a recipe to make a birthday cake that looks like your cat might actually turn out looking more like a grizzly bear. Yet you followed all the instructions to the letter. How can that be?

Well, you know what? We cant all be artists, but we can bake the cake! Its how it tastes and the love that's been sprinkled into it that counts! Besides which, the fun and laughter that grizzly bear face can bring will still bring happiness. So don't be disappointed with your masterpiece! It is unique and so are you!

When you are accepting of who you are and what you have, you won't see the differences. They won't matter. They don't matter!

So it is with family and friends. The differences will be there. Sometimes they will be on show, sometimes they won't and sometimes they will be insignificant and sometimes they might not. Not worth the worry or the time to fret over them or make something out of.

So don't let your hang-ups hang you out to dry! Have fun, but don't keep score of the differences. Accept and be accepting. Be kind to yourself and don't be too critical! See the picture with all its flaws and be glad, be real, be honest but most of all, be you!

Everyone is dealing with something. Be kind, be patient,

Be-YOU-tiful
